Cave Bay Wastewater Facilities Plan and Improvements

Worley, Idaho

Client

Cave Bay Community Services

Construction Value:

$1.4 Million

Overview:

Cave Bay Community Services Inc. (CBCS) is a non-profit water and sewer company which operates a sewer system serving approximately 200 residential lots on Coeur d’Alene Lake’s Cave Bay near Worley, Idaho. CBCS selected T-O Engineers to complete a Wastewater Facilities Plan to bring their wastewater system into compliance with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ’s) current Wastewater Rules. The existing system was over 35 years old, was constructed and designed to be non-discharging and was near overflow capacity.

Proposed improvements included:

  • Upgrade lining and expansion of the lagoons
  • Development of a wastewater land application system
  • Acquisition of additional land for forest irrigation

T-O prepared an application for a Wastewater Reuse Permit for the existing CBCS property and prepared construction plans for an interim irrigation system to serve CBCS while planning and long term upgrades were completed. The planning project was funded through a DEQ Grant, and was completed in 2013. T-O assisted CBCS in obtaining a DEQ Clean Water Loan for the long term improvements, which are currently being designed by T-O Engineers.
