PROJECT: Water Resources

I-84 Five Mile Creek

Meridian, Idaho

Idaho Transportation Department

Construction Value:

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) direct-selected T-O Engineers to complete comprehensive hydraulic services on the I-84 Five Mile Creek project. The project objective was to upgrade the Five Mile Creek culvert under I-84 to eliminate overtopping of I-84 during the 100-year flood event.

T-O completed a hydraulic analysis on Five Mile Creek beginning downstream of I-84 to the confluence with Eight Mile Creek and upstream to Jade Avenue, demonstration of no-rise in the floodway, detailed comparison to existing FEMA analysis and maps, floodplain development permits with the City of Meridian and Ada County, hydraulic design to mitigate scour, and construction drawings. Services were completed under budget and within schedule including additional services needed by ITD to coordinate with the remainder of the local I-84 improvements.

ITD recently direct-selected T-O Engineers to continue services on this project with a post-construction LOMR. We have completed the hydraulic analysis and mapping of the reduced flood hazards resulting from the upgraded 8-84 culvert and are preparing the LOMR submittal that will include coordination with the City of Meridian, Ada County and FEMA.
